MI Woman Wins $2M On Scratch-Off Ticket With her winnings, she plans to pay bills and then save the remainder for her kids, according to lottery officials.​​

PORTAGE, MI — A 33-year-old Kalamazoo County woman started screaming after winning $2 million on a scratch-off ticket, according to Michigan Lottery officials.

The lucky 33-year-old woman, who chose to remain anonymous, bought her winning Colossal Cashword ticket at Hoffman's Corner Store, located at 5905 South Westnedge Avenue in Portage, according to lottery officials.

The woman told lottery officials that the Colossal Cashword game has been my favorite game since it came out.

"I scratched the barcode right when I bought the ticket and gave it to the clerk to scan it," the woman told lottery officials. "He handed it back with a slip that said to file a claim at the Lottery office and said: 'You must have won big; you have to go to the Lottery office!'

The woman said she took the ticket home where she scratched it.

After uncovering 10 words, it dawned on her that the ticket was worth $2 million, according to lottery officials.

"I started screaming," she said. "Winning feels good and came at the perfect time."

She chose to receive her prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $1.3 million rather than annuity payments for the full amount, according to lottery officials.

With her winnings, she plans to pay bills and then save the remainder for her kids, according to lottery officials.
