Woman in ‘critical condition’ after crash into tree

DARKE COUNTY, Ohio (WDTN) — CareFlight alongside other emergency response agencies were called to a crash that left a person in critical condition.

According to the Darke County Sheriff's Office, the crash occurred on Greenville St. Marys Road north of Medford Road, which is where crews were dispatched around 2:20 p.m. Wednesday.

Juvenile passenger sent to hospital after crash

An initial investigation indicates that the crash occurred as the driver of a black Volkswagen Passat failed to navigate a curve while traveling northbound on Greenville St. Marys Road.

The vehicle traveled off the right side of the road and through a ditch, eventually crashing head-on into a tree. The driver was pulled from the vehicle and transported by CareFlight to an area hospital.

The sheriff's office is continuing to investigate.
