Woman questions if she is overreacting by giving her husband the silent treatment for voting for Trump

A woman has questioned if she is overreacting by giving her husband the silent treatment after discovering that he voted for President Elect Donald Trump .

Trump pulled off a shocking political comeback and regained his seat in the White House on the night of November 5 when he defeated Vice President Kamala Harris by gaining 277 Electoral College votes.

The 78-year-old red sweep of the nation sparked a wave of emotions as many women have been taking to social media to boycott dating and having sex with men, with one New York voter going as far as shaving her head in protest of Trump's win .

Now, another women is chiming in to share that she was blindsided by her husband's vote for the Republican and has decided to ignore him altogether.

In a Reddit thread titled, Am I Overreacting , the unnamed Democrat admitted that she feels 'hopeless' and 'sad' after her spouse's 'misogynistic' vote came to light.

The thread was titled: 'Am I overreacting for not talking to my husband after he voted for Trump.'

She explained that both she and her spouse had been Democrats and had voted always as such.

'As the title says, my husband voted for Trump. We've always been life long Democrats, and he feels that the Democratic Party lied to him about the issues with the immigrants.

'He's survivor of gun violence and every night, I have to admit, our newer neighbors get drunk, blast music and shoot guns off near our kids' windows. It got so bad we had to move,' the woman said at the beginning of the post.

Despite being furious about her husband's vote, the unnamed woman admitted that she had considered voting for Trump.

She confessed: 'I have to admit that at one point I also considered voting for Trump. I was exhausted, angry, etc. but I couldn't do it. There was so much more at stake.'

The Reddit user was seemingly referring to the issue of reproduction rights, which has divided many women in the States after Trump pushed for Roe v. Wade to be overturned, which stripped away the federal constitutional right to abortions.

She added: 'Fast forward to election night. We had just moved, I couldn't find my mail in ballot to drop off, and as I watched the polls close, I didn't have it in me to find it and drop it off.

'This was the first election that I didn't participate in. I was so hopeless. Even though my state is Blue, I feel a lot of shame because of that decision.'

She noted that she had no clue her spouse changed Political Party and was devastated when she learned that he voted for Trump.

'However, my husband voted red. And his bigotry and misogyny has really been shining bright that last few weeks. The last few days, I just don't have anything to say to him (nice at least) so I've stayed quiet.

'I'm sad that he has left me alone to process this election. I'm sad for the red sweep. I don't respect his stance. Like I previously had said, I'm ashamed that I felt so hopeless that I didn't find my ballot and turn it in. So, I'm staying quiet,' she said.

The Reddit user admitted that her husband has been 'spiraling' since she began ignoring him, however, she doesn't seem to mind.

At the end of the post, she added: 'Needless to say he's spiraling. He says I'm being weird about the election results, they don't matter. And to be honest, I'm so disconnected from everything that can't seem to give a s**t that he's upset.

'So, am I overreacting?'

People on the web flooded the comments section and expressed their thoughts on the situation as the internet erupted in a fiery debate.

Some social media users expressed their sadness for the woman as they suggested she separate from her husband.

One person said: 'I'm sorry you're feeling this way, it's hard when someone you love sees things so differently.'

Someone else wrote: 'Not overreacting, divorce him.'

Another user added: 'I don't think you are overreacting. If my significant other had voted for Trump our relationship would be over. To see Trump's actions and words and his history and think he is fit to run our country means you do not have the same values as myself.'

However, other people on the web claimed she was being 'immature' and even told her to send her husband their way.

One person said: 'Yes for sure. I would have a hard time being with someone that didn't talk to me over a political viewpoint. It's okay to disagree on things, but to not talk seems immature.'

Someone else wrote: 'I do think you're overreacting in not talking to him. You say his bigotry and misogyny has been shining through lately - that needs to be discussed. It's not about his vote at this point - it's about his behavior.'

Another user added: 'If someone was this immature to the point of not talking to me because of the way I voted, I'd be questioning the relationship and probably leave.

'You're massively overreacting, point him to my DMs, us conservative girls will keep him company [and] distract him from his whiny as** wife at least.'

Trump's win has sparked a flood of anger from Democratic women who have been taking to social media to reveal that they are refusing to get romantically involved with men.

The plan, which sees women saying no to marriage, childbirth, dating and sex with men, is a recreation of South Korea 's 4B Movement .

Now, American women are following the same ideology in an attempt to get revenge on men who voted Trump back into the White House.

One woman left people stunned as she took an electric razor to her head and chopped off her locks.

The 47th President's victory was announced after he won the three swing states of North Carolina, Georgia and Pennsylvania.

Associated Press called the race at 5:34am (EST) on Wednesday.
