hio (WXIX) - A Woodward high school athlete was hurt in a shooting during the school's football game at North College Hill, Cincinnati Public Schools said.

"Tonight, a Woodward Career Technical High School student-athlete was injured in a shooting during the school's football game at North College Hill," the district said in a statement.

"Cincinnati Public Schools recognizes this tragic event and our support remains with the student, their family, friends and school community. CPS' Crisis Response Team will be on-site to provide support to students as they return to school Tuesday."

There won't be any more football games this season at North College Hill's campus after someone fired shots at the elementary school, NCH Superintendent Eugene Blalock tells FOX19 NOW.

He said they had metal detectors at the game and banned masks and outside bags yet this still happened.

It all unfolded about 8:30 p.m. Friday.

Officers responded to reports of shots fired and a person grazed with a bullet being taken into the middle school gymnasium.

This comes two weeks after shots were fired near the football stadium, halting North College Hill's game against Cincinnati Country Day.

Officers evacuated the stadium of players and fans without incident and then determined it was an isolated event not connected to the game at the school.

"In an abundance of caution, the decision was made to cancel the remainder of the game.

North College Hill did not play the following week because their opponent, Miami Valley Christian Academy, declined to go there.

We will update this breaking story as soon as police provide an update.
