Work on digital message boards will close lane on Route 283 in Mount Joy Township this week
Westbound Route 283 will be restricted to a single, 10-foot-wide lane between the Route 743 exit in Mount Joy Township and the Toll House Road exit in Dauphin County during overnight hours this week, according to the state Department of Transportation.
From 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday night through Friday night, the left lane of westbound Route 283 will be closed near the Schoolhouse Road overpass in Londonderry Township, Dauphin County. The right lane will be restricted to vehicles 10-feet-wide or less.
The restrictions are needed so crews can work on digital message boards spanning the highway at Schoolhouse Road.
The work is part of a $5.6 million project to maintain message boards and traffic monitoring cameras on multiple highways in Dauphin and Cumberland counties.
The contractor is Kuharchik Construction of Exeter Borough, Luzerne County.
