Work resumes on Tidal Wave car wash on Grant Avenue in Auburn

After a delay of several months, work has resumed on the Tidal Wave Auto Spa car wash coming to the former location of Denny's restaurant on Grant Avenue in Auburn.

Crews could be seen working on the site on Thursday.

Auburn Mayor Jimmy Giannettino told The Citizen the delay was caused by a change in contractor to Mulvey Construction.

The car wash , a popular topic of conversation on social media, was approved by the Auburn Planning Board in September 2022. The former Denny's was demolished as part of the project.

The 3,620-square-foot car wash will consist of a building and wash tunnel, with 25 parking spaces. Twenty of them will be covered and offer free vacuums.

The Georgia-based Tidal Wave car wash chain has about 100 locations, mostly in the southeastern U.S. It is also opening a location in New Hartford.
