Wreaths Across America needs donations to help honor West Virginia veterans
CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — With December right around the corner, Wreaths Across America is looking for donations to ensure every veteran's grave has a wreath this year.
Wreaths Across American Day is Dec. 14—a day when people across the country honor fallen soldiers and veterans by laying wreaths on their graves—and the organization is asking for help from the public.
"It means a lot to cover the national cemeteries every year," Cliff Vangilder, local coordinator of West Virginia National and Grafton National Cemeteries, told 12 News in an interview. "I said this last year and I'll continue to say it every year, it makes my heart feel full when we cover all these veterans. That is my mission year in and year out, but to pick and choose who gets one and who doesn't, I don't want to be put in that spot."
Donations for the program are needed for this year's wreath laying by Dec. 1.
