Yankee Dave Portnoy Single Handedly Brings The Guardians Back From The Dead

A.Davis26 min ago

And this, folks, is when the series ended. The Guardians went to the All-Star closer, Emmanuel Clase, to get a 4-out save in a 2-run game with a runner on first and Aaron Judge up. Aaron Judge all of Cleveland's backs with a homer to tie it up, and then Giancarlo Stanton broke all of Cleveland's hearts with a homer to take the lead. 4-3 Yankees, going to their closer, in a series they already lead 2-0. Again, this is when the series ended.

....and this is when the series came back to life.

Okay, fine. Retweeting my previous posts from months ago where I was cheering for the best closer in baseball is one thing. But how about this one where he (a lifelong Red Sox fan) publicly cheers for the Yankees?

Oh my god. Did I really get that far into his head that he not only holds his breath watching a livestream hoping for my downfall, but that he actually publicly switched teams to his arch rival? Talk about an all-time jinx from the king of no jinxes!

Well, the rest is history. A Big Christmas 2-run bomb in the 9th to send it to extras, and then a David Fry 2-run bomb in the 10th to extend my trip in New York by at least another night (hotel billed to D. Portnoy). And now, and forever more, October 17th will go down as Ohio's Tate Day:

This win for the Guardians (and tragic loss for the Yankees) is on one person and one person only: Yankee Dave. And thank you for Yankee Dave for lending me his office to write this postgame blog!

Blog done! Where's my airhorn?
