Year Parking Lease Agreement With Rusnak Automotive Group – Pasadena Now
The Pasadena City Council will consider as part of Monday's consent calendar authorizing a one-year contract between the city and Rusnak/Pasadena Automotive Group for the lease of 171 parking spaces in the Del Mar Station Parking Garage. The lease, valued at $130,815 for the first year, would be used to store excess vehicle inventory for the automotive group.
The Del Mar Station Garage, which serves as a public parking facility, operates below full capacity. Leasing the spaces to Rusnak/Pasadena would help generate revenue to support the garage's operational costs while ensuring the availability of parking for other public users.
The agreement, which could be extended for up to four additional one-year terms at the discretion of the City Manager, continues a longstanding partnership between the city and Rusnak/Pasadena, which dates back to 1998. The automotive group has used offsite locations to store excess vehicles due to insufficient storage space at its dealership properties.
The 171 spaces are located in two designated, gated sections of the Del Mar Station Garage, which are secured and designed not to interfere with regular vehicle flow. The lease rate is set at $75 per space per month, with a 15% discount applied, generating approximately $130,815 in the first year.
In addition, the city has the option to renew the lease for up to four additional one-year terms. If the number of spaces leased exceeds 100, the annual lease amount will be calculated based on the market rate for parking spaces minus a 15% discount. If fewer than 100 spaces are leased, the price will be adjusted according to the market rate.
