78-year-old dies after striking tree off Route 164 in Preston
PRESTON, Conn. (WTNH) — State police say a 78-year-old man died Sunday after crashing into a tree off Route 164.
Frederick Coonan of Grosvernordale, Connecticut was pronounced deceased on scene, according to police.

When troopers arrived to the area of Route 164 and Deerbrook Road around 8 p.m., they learned a 2007 Toyota Corolla had been driving northbound when it crossed the southbound lane and left the roadway.
The vehicle continued into the grass shoulder and struck a tree, according to police.
Coonan was the driver and sole occupant in the vehicle.
