19-year-old killed in Greeley shooting near college campus
DENVER ( KDVR ) — A 19-year-old Greeley man was killed in a shooting Saturday night near the University of Northern Colorado.
At 7:10 p.m., Greeley Police Department officers were called to the 2000 block of 9th Avenue on reports of a shooting. The area is next to the southeast corner of UNC.
When officers arrived at the neighborhood, they found a 19-year-old man lying in the road with at least one gunshot wound. Officers immediately provided life-saving treatment while waiting for EMS to arrive.

The victim was then taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Detectives and evidence technicians were on scene for several hours after the incident. According to detectives, a related car crash also happened near the shooting location. However, the crash involved unoccupied cars.
Investigators believe the suspect and the victim knew each other and the shooting was not random. The identity of the victim will be released at a later time. It is unclear if the victim was a student at UNC.
Police did not specify if a suspect was in custody, however, officers are asking anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or has information to call the Greeley Police Department at 970-350-9605.
