21-year-old woman sentenced to life in prison for killing teen

A York woman was sentenced to life in prison on Wednesday for killing an 18-year-old on New Year's Eve in 2022, according to the York County District Attorney's office.

Alajah E. Holmes, 21, pleaded guilty to criminal homicide in August after police said she shot and killed Amiya Paige, 18, on December 31, 2022, the DA's office said . Holmes did not dispute the accusation that she fired the shot that killed Paige, according to the DA's office.

Court of Common Pleas President Judge Maria Musti Cook sentenced Holmes on Wednesday. Cook found Holmes guilty of first-degree murder following a degree of guilt hearing.
