Yellowstone Stars Tease the ‘Huge Spoiler Plot Point’ That Is ‘Crucial to How Everything Comes to a Head’
If you've seen the explosive promo for the rest of Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2, you already know that Kayce and Rainwater become blood brothers. (If you haven't seen it, watch here .) The question is, to what end do they tie themselves to one another?
"It's something that's beneficial for both of them," Luke Grimes tells TVLine, hastening to add that "it's also a huge spoiler plot point that I can't talk about. It's a very big deal. But yeah, that moment is crucial to how everything comes to a head."
Gil Birmingham suggests that "Kayce represents a really interesting opportunity of a crossover, between being married to an indigenous woman [Monica] and being the son of the [man] most of our confrontations are about. It's a beautifully structured set-up that Taylor Sheridan has created.
"The sense for Rainwater is that Kayce always wants to do the best [that he can]," he continues. "He wants to be the best person he can be, and he's inspired by his wife in that way. But he's also exposed more to the culture and the value system of what indigenous people are more so than John [ever was]."
In the episodes to come, both Kayce and Rainwater are going to need all the help they can get, the former as he grapples with brother Jamie's culpability in the murder of their father; the latter, as an oil pipeline threatens the reservation and everyone on it. Thomas has "always felt that he's playing defense," Birmingham observes. "Convincing your opponent that maybe it's something other than that is sort of the structure of strategy that Rainwater's always measuring out. But he's smart enough to know when he can actually utilize an ally."
