Dominating its competition at times, the Yorktown Patriots finished a fourth straight regular season undefeated against district field-hockey rivals.

Yorktown (11-3 overall) was 6-0 and outscored Liberty District opponents, 26-1 with five shutouts, in play this fall. The Patriots will be the top seed in the seven-team district tournament, a competition they have won three straight times with 2-0 records each year, and have a first-round bye.

Including tournament and regular-season matches during that district winning streak, Yorktown is 30-0 against league opponents, with 21 shutouts over four seasons.

Yorktown ended its regular season with a 4-0 victory over the Washington-Liberty Generals (11-5, 4-2). Olivia Stafford led the Patriots with two goals, Elena Riser and Anna Menard scored one each and Quincy Green had an assist.

Sarah Kinzer earned the shutout in goal (her eighth this season), giving her a 10-2 record. Ellen Shuckra has the other three wins in goal.

Stafford is Yorktown's leading scorer, with 13 goals and eight assists. Reiser has 11 goals and three assists, with Greene having seven goals and six assists.

Other Yorktown scorers have been Kiki Friemel (four goals); Menard, Molly Gill and Leah Williams, with three goals each; Maren Leonard with two goals and Mary Hardwick and Paige Baskin with a goal each. Reiser is the team leader with 46 shots on goal, and Stafford has taken 38.

Yorktown now enters the postseason with a four-match winning streak and the defending Virginia High School League Class 6 state champion. Its three losses this fall were against Broadneck High School of Maryland, 5-0, to Cox of Virginia Beach , 2-1 in double overtime, and to the Madison Warhawks of Vienna, 5-4, in the season opener.

Yorktown also won the state championship in 2021 and was second in 2022.

Washington-Liberty is the third seed and has a first-round district-tournament match against the sixth-seed McLean Highlanders.
