Youth tackle football being brought back to Greene County

SNOW HILL, N.C. (WNCT) — The Greene County Touchdown Club is bringing back youth tackle football for the first time since 2022.

Other football clubs exist in Eastern North Carolina but Greene County wanted to bring back the excitement of tackle football for kids looking to play in middle school and high school.

The mission of getting the Rams of tomorrow built today is what drove Trey Scott to help make it all possible.

"I think it's priceless. I really think it's priceless. There's so much that comes out of it as in learning the game," Scott said. "And sometimes, you have to play the game to be safe. If you put a kid out there who's never played, that's a safety issue. And on top of that, we work hand-in-hand with the high school, the summer camp."

Scott is a passionate sports fan and supporter of youth sports and Greene County sports. "I've always been a supporter of the high school program, as well as, Greene County Sports period," he said. "Like I said, I'm very proud to be from Greene County. However, I wanted to get the community more involved. I saw the recreational, didn't have a team, was struggling to get funding. So, I reached out to the community and pulled people together and see what we could do."
