1 dead, 2 in the hospital after crash east of 291 Highway

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One person is dead and two others are in the hospital after a deadly crash in Independence Sunday night.

According to police, the crash happened around 10:45 p.m. on Salisbury Road east of 291- Highway.

Police say a Nissan pulled onto Salisbury from Downey Avenue, into the path of a Kia going east on Salisbury.

The driver of the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. A passenger in the Nissan and the Kia's driver were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Police did not identify anyone involved in the crash. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
