5 hospitalized in north Charlotte residential fire caused by unattended cooking: CFD

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – Five people were hospitalized after an overnight fire broke out at a home just north of uptown Charlotte, fire officials said Friday morning.

Crews responded to calls regarding the incident at a single-family home around 1 a.m. near 2700 Coronet Way, east of the Enderly community. Five patients were transported by Medic to area medical centers to be evaluated and there were no injuries to firefighters.

The fire was contained within 20 minutes by 30 firefighters.

The cause of the fire was unattended cooking, the Charlotte Fire Department said. CFD estimates about $25,000 in damages. The Red Cross was on scene assisting those who had been displaced.

CFD has had a busy week. They've responded to several fires including one at Calvary Church in south Charlotte.
