95 In Boca Raton Completely Shut Friday Morning
BY: TRAFFIC CENTER | BocaNewsNow.com DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — An early morning fatal crash on I-95 in Boca Raton has closed the interstate northbound. The crash is in the area of Congress Avenue. Backups appear to span several miles.
The Florida Department of Transportation issued this alert via its FL511.com notification system: "Crash in Palm Beach County on I-95 North, before Exit 50: Congress Ave. 4 Left lanes blocked. Last updated at 06:21 AM. Road Ranger Ahead. Move Over or Slow Down."
We are awaiting an update from Florida Highway Patrol. The crash was first reported around 5:30 a.m. Fatal crash investigations traditionally last for several hours. Expect problems on I-95 NB well into the morning. Your best bet: exit I-95 at Palmetto Park Road — or before Palmetto Park Road — and use Military Trail or Powerline/Jog to the west. Head north to at least Linton Bouleveard in Delray Beach and rejoin the Interstate there.
Check back for updates throughout the morning. For now, you're going to be late if you enter I-95 prior to Congress Avenue.
