(Shutterstock)PENNSYLVANIA — Four people died and nearly 200 were hurt in crashes over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
State Police said from Nov. 22 to Nov. 26, four people died in four separate crashes across Pennsylvania. Alcohol was not a factor in any of the fatal incidents, police said.

The weekend saw a total of 979 crashes, 73 of which were alcohol related. In those crashes, 197 people were hurt, police data shows.
During 2022's Thanksgiving weekend, police reported 970 crashes, 48 of which involved alcohol, and 196 people were hurt. Only one person died in the 2022 holiday weekend period.
Additionally, police made 542 DUI arrests across the state over that same time period. That figure is up slightly from the 2022 Thanksgiving holiday period, which saw 539 DUI arrests.
As for other traffic enforcement data, troopers issued 10,000 speeding citations, 1,187 citations for failing to wear a seat belt, and 133 citations for not securing children in safety seats over from Nov. 22 to Nov. 26. Police said 18,870 other citations were issued during the weekend.
These statistics cover only those incidents investigated by the Pennsylvania State Police and do not include incidents to which other law enforcement agencies responded.
