4 L-L League girls soccer teams open state playoffs on Tuesday
It's win or time to turn in the uniforms for four Lancaster-Lebanon League girls soccer teams that begin play in the PIAA playoffs on Tuesday.
Here's a look at the first-round pairings.
Conestoga at Manheim Township, 7:30 p.m.
The District Three 4A champ Blue Streaks (20-2) will face the Pioneers in the first round for the second straight season.
Last year, Conestoga beat visiting Township 3-0 on the way to the championship game, where it lost 4-1 to Pennridge. The Kemmerley sisters, Keira and Kate, each scored against the Blue Streaks. Keira is now a senior and Kate a junior.
This year, the Pioneers (19-3) entered the District One tournament as the top seed before finishing fifth. Conestoga lost 1-0 to Merion in the quarterfinals before beating Spring-Ford 1-0 and Pennridge 1-0 to finish fifth.
Jordan Nguyen leads Township with 21 goals and five assists. Regan Taylor has 10 goals and nine assists, and Kate Palumbo 10 goals and four assists.
The Blue Streaks are making their third straight appearance.
Cocalico at Pottsville, 7 p.m.
The District Three 3A runner-up Eagles (15-6-2) are in states for the second straight year. Last season, they lost 8-1 to eventual runner-up Abington Heights in the first round.
Chloe Martin leads Cocalico in scoring with 17 goals and six assists. Kira Lehman has 14 goals and five assists and Livia Smith seven goals and a team-high 13 assists.
The Crimson Tide (15-4-1) won the District 11 title by beating Bangor 3-1 in the quarterfinals and top-seeded Blue Mountain 1-0 in the final. Kailey Olenick scored in the final.
Pottsville last made states in 2022, falling 3-1 to Greencastle-Antrim in the first round.
Manheim Central at West Chester Rustin, 7 p.m.
The District Three 3A third-place Barons (13-7) are making their first appearance in states since 2019, when they beat Plum 2-1 (4-1 in penalty kicks) before losing to Archbishop Wood 1-0.
Manheim Central qualified for states by beating Palmyra 2-0 in the district third-place game. It had lost 2-0 to Cocalico in the semifinals.
Ashtyn Kahler leads the Barons with 10 goals and four assists. Laura Kahler has eight goals and five assists and Aubrey Myers five goals and a team-high 10 assists.
Rustin (18-3), which was seeded second, won the District One title with a 2-0 win over top-seeded Strath Haven in the final. Ava Pascarella and Jordyn Krafchick scored for the Golden Knights.
Lancaster Mennonite vs. South Williamsport, 5 p.m.
The District Three 1A runner-up Blazers (14-3-2) will face a familiar opponent in the District Four champion Mountaineers (19-1-1) at Balls Mills.
South Williamsport defeated Mennonite 2-1 in the first round last year.
Lancaster Mennonite lost 3-2 (4-3 in penalty kicks) to Camp Hill in the District Three final.
Macie Boyd leads the Blazers in scoring with 22 goals and 14 assists. Avery King has 15 goals and eight assists and Leah Friesen 13 goals and six assists.
The Mountaineers won their third straight district title with a 1-0 win over Muncy. They did not allow a goal in three district games.
Ella Moore, a two-time All-American, leads South Williamsport with 42 goals.
