PAMPA, Texas (KFDA) - Residents in Pampa should expect delays and construction on a busy road for the next year.

The Texas Department of Transportation will begin work on US 60 in Pampa, bringing many safety improvements via the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

These upgrades will improve ADA fixtures, crosswalks, sidewalks, drainage and signage as well as the addition of bike lanes. .

The improvements aim to help with connectivity, mobility and safety on this particular stretch of road in Pampa.

"To increase the safety of that, it's going to include bike lanes, intersection safety improvements to that, as well as the curbs and sidewalks improving those as well because that will improve the connectivity and the mobility for pedestrians in that area." says Jason Britsch, public information officer at TXDOT.

Britsch goes on to explain to the residents in Pampa about the safety of driving during this project.

TxDOT stressed the importance of safe driving in Pampa while this construction project is underway.

"These lane closures are going to be intermittent, they could change from day to day, week to week, so were just really asking the public to be patient with the construction that's happening. And you know to just be aware of signs that are out there, because these lane closures can change at a moment's notice," said Britsch.

The project is set to begin on Monday, Oct. 21 and is expected to be completed by November 2025.
