1 person rescued from fire at Avalon Apartments in Penfield

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – One person was rescued from an apartment fire in Penfield Saturday night.

Crews responded to the blaze at Avalon Apartments on Empire Boulevard just before 8 p.m. According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, one person, the only resident of the impacted apartment, had to be treated for minor burns to the hand.

Only one apartment was impacted by the fire. A cause is not yet clear, but deputies said there are no indications to suggest that this was the result of anything criminal in nature. Surrounding roads that were shut down for the investigation have since been reopened.
