5 San Diego County Students Win Sustainability Scholarships From Wheelhouse Credit Union

In an effort to support the next generation of environmental stewards, Wheelhouse Credit Union gave $1,000 scholarships to five college-bound students through its Sustainability College Scholarship Program.

These are the 2024 Wheelhouse Sustainability Scholarship recipients:

  • Reed Ganzer
  • School: Poway High School
  • City: Poway
  • College Attending: University of Massachusetts Amherst
  • Rylan William
  • School: Eastlake High School
  • City: Chula Vista
  • College Attending: San Diego State University
  • "Our sustainability mission extends to supporting our next generation of environmental champions who share our passion to protect our natural resources and help our beautiful city thrive," Wheelhouse CEO and president Lisa Paul-Hill said. "We are honored to support these local trailblazers who are leading the way in their mission to promote sustainability in their communities. We congratulate each of these scholarship recipients and look forward to seeing the results of their great work in the years ahead."

    Wheelhouse's Sustainability College Scholarship Program was created in 2005 to recognize conscientious high school leaders in San Diego County who share the credit union's passion to positively impact the community through eco-friendly initiatives to help sustain the environment and resources for generations to come. Since the creation of the program, Wheelhouse has awarded $126,000 in scholarships, according to the credit union.
