OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - 6 News Daybreak has the headlines you need to know to get your Wednesday started. Election 2024: Trump wins the White House Former President Trump is headed back to the White House. AP and several networks called the race around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday — hours after Trump declared himself the winner in front of his supporters at his Election Night party in Florida. "We've been through so much together, and today you showed up in record numbers to deliver a victory," Trump his cheering supporters in Florida. "This was something special and we're going to pay you back." Victories in key swing states pulled his electoral vote count to 277, including Pennsylvania , Wisconsin, Georgia, and North Carolina. Final votes being counted for Bacon-Vargas The tight race between Rep. Don Bacon and State Sen. Tony Vargas for the 2nd Congressional District seat has been winding down over the last several hours. Vargas was slightly leading totals into the latest hours of Election Night, but totals Wednesday morning could easily send Bacon back to Washington. The rematch between the two candidates has been playing out in ways reminiscent of the same race two years ago. Fischer keeps her U.S. Senate seat Incumbent Sen. Deb Fischer defeated Independent challenger Dan Osborn in a hard-fought race for the U.S. Senate. Pete Ricketts also held on to the rest of Ben Sasse's term, with early returns handing him a solid victory. By holding on to both seats, Nebraska's Republican senators helped the GOP reclaim its U.S. Senate majority . Abortion issues decided in Nebraska Nebraska voters have decided to keep the restrictions on abortion in place. AP called results for Initiative 439 just before 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, showing that voters had rejected the Right to Abortion ballot initiative . Initiative 434 had been called more than two hours earlier, with Nebraskans voting to keep the existing abortion restrictions in place. The conflicting ballot measures had been poised to set the stage for a closer examination of each initiative's vote totals in order to determined how the issue would be decided — should both ballot initiatives pass. But later results showed voters had rendered such an examination moot. Medical marijuana passes easily Both Nebraska medical marijuana measures have passed after Tuesday's voting — but the issue isn't yet fully decided. The most recent results had more than 70% of Nebraskans voting in favor of legalizing medical marijuana. However, Judge Susan Strong is expected to rule on the validity of petition signatures this month. A decision needs to be made before the results are certified on Dec. 2. If even 3,500 signatures are determined to be tainted , Tuesday's results may be voided. School vouchers repealed Nebraskans also voted to repeal school vouchers so that $10 million in public dollars are not spent for students to attend private schools. It was decided in Sept. that all petitions on abortion and school choice would appear on the ballot. Senator Lou Ann Linehan said that the court's school voucher decision could have had a long-term impact on how the Nebraska Legislature operated.
