Agencies Seeking Owners of Drove of Pigs Found and Captured By Animal Services in Chula Vista

Animal agencies were able to corral a herd of eleven pigs after they were discovered wandering though a residential area in Chula Vista on Sunday night.

The mother sow, her nine piglets, and a pot-bellied pig were brought in after about a three hour chase by Chula Vista and County Animal Services early Monday.

"They were very food-motivated," said Lt. Talia Padilla of County Animal Servies. "The mom hog liked her ears scratched and she was fairly affectionate."

Some of the pigs were more skittish than others, said the agency, but eventually they were able to capture all of them.

It is unclear where the pigs came from, as no one in the neighborhood reported having lost them.

Because of where the pigs were were found, Chula Vista Animal Services is handling calls about them. If they are not claimed within four business days, Chula Vista will determine placement or adoption options for them.
