‘Alien: Romulus’ Debuts On Streaming On Hulu This Week

Alien: Romulus—the latest hit in filmmaker Ridley Scott's Alien franchise—debuts on streaming on Hulu this week.

Produced by Scott and directed by Fede Alvarez , Alien: Romulus opened in theaters on August 16. Set between the events of Scott's Alien (1979) and James Cameron's Aliens (1986), Alien: Romulus follows a small group of mining colonists who are seeking to escape their dreary confines for a better and brighter world.

To do so, however, they must scavenge cryo pods for a nine-year trek from an abandoned space outpost. Where there, the group inadvertently unleashes hundreds of Xenomorphs which immediately go on the attack against the group.

Alien Romulus stars Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced, Spike Fearn and Aileen Wu .

According to Hulu, Alien Romulus debuts on streaming video on demand on the platform on Thursday, November 21. You must be a subscriber to Hulu to watch the film on the streaming service. Hulu is available with ads for $9.99 per month or ad-free for $18.99 per month.

Hulu also offers yearly subscription packages and bundling packages with other streaming platforms.

An 'Alien: Romulus' Sequel Is In Development

Per The Numbers , Alien Romulus made $105.3 million domestically and $245.5 million internationally for a worldwide tally box office tally of $350.8 million during its theatrical run against an $80 million production budget before prints and advertising.

As such, the success of Alien: Romulus at the box office was enough to justify a sequel to the hit film, which 20th Century Studios President of Production Steve Asbell said is in development.

"We're working on a sequel idea now. We haven't quite closed our deal with Fede [Alvarez], but we are going to, and he has an idea that we're working on," Asbell told The Hollywood Reporter in October.

"The two survivors, Rain and Andy, played by Cailee Spaeny and David Jonsson, were real highlights of the film," Asbell added. "And so I always think of it like, 'Wow, where do people want to see them go next?' We know there's going to be aliens. We know there's going to be great horror set pieces. But I fell in love with both of them and I want to see what their story is."

Alien: Romulus is officially the seventh film in the Alien movie franchise. The Xenomorphs also appeared in two Alien vs. Predator spinoff movies.

Rated R, Alien Romulus makes its SVOD debut on Hulu on Thursday. The film is also currently available on digital streaming via premium video on demand.
