APD releases body cam footage from deadly Nov. 11 hostage situation that killed Officer Pa

The Austin Police Department released body camera footage of a and ended in the death of Officer Jorge Pastore and three other people, including the suspected shooter in South Austin on November 11.
It happened at around 2:49 a.m. at 9308 Bernoulli Drive.
A woman called 9-1-1 and said someone was stabbing her, according to APD. Police learned the 9-1-1 caller and victim were able to escape from the house prior to their arrival. The victim was taken to a local hospital by Austin-Travis County EMS and was treated for the injuries she sustained.
Officers arrived less than 10 minutes later and learned two people were still inside being held hostage by 35-year-old Ahmed Mohamed Nassar who was armed with a knife.
At 3 a.m., officers made an emergency forced entry into the home in an attempt to rescue the remaining two victims and were fired upon by Nassar. The officers backed out of the house without returning fire.
Due to the hostage situation, SWAT was called out at 3:06 a.m. At around 4:11 a.m., SWAT made an emergency forced entry and made their way to a rear bedroom, where Nassar, once again, fired his gun at the officers. That's when SWAT Officers Jared Carruth and Kevin Olejar, along with Sergeant Kevin DeLaRue, returned fire.
During the exchange of gunfire, two officers were shot. They were immediately moved to safety by other officers and EMS personnel and began to render medical aid. Despite the life-saving efforts, APD Officer Jorge "George" Pastore was pronounced dead at 4:56 a.m. at a local hospital.
The second injured officer was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and later released.
The two hostage victims were identified as Ms. Eyman Elnemrnassar, 63, and Mr. Riad Nassar,32, both family members of Nassar.
SWAT Officers provided medical aid to Nassar, but he succumbed to his injuries and died on scene.
SWAT Officer Jared Carruth has ten years and eleven months of service with the department. Officer Kevin Olejar has eight years and eleven months of service. Sergeant Kevin DeLaRue has 16 years and seven months of service. All three have been placed on administrative leave.
APD will conduct two concurrent investigations into this incident: a criminal investigation conducted by the APD Special Investigations Unit in conjunction with the Travis County District Attorney's Office and an administrative investigation conducted by the APD Internal Affairs Unit, with oversight from the Office of Police Oversight.
