Sep. 20—JEFFERSON — Area car dealerships are now able to file car titles electronically, Ashtabula County Clerk of Courts April Mariotti-Daniels announced recently.

The initiation of the Ohio title Portal and Electronic Title Agreements into the day-to-day operation of the clerk of courts office will make things more efficient, convenient and secure for users, Mariotti-Daniels said.

"The Ohio Title Portal allows for the electronic submission and processing of title transactions, streamlining the process for dealerships, financial institutions and the general public," she said. "Now the dealerships won't have to come down here with a box of titles."

Mariotti-Daniels said the system will reduce wait times, minimize paper work, and improve overall service delivery.

The system will allow electronic submissions to reduce the overall time to process transactions, she said.

The process will also enhance security, allow the titles to be processed completely online and reduce paper usage to contribute to environmental sustainability, according to a press release from Mariotti-Daniels' office.

"The Ohio Title Portal and electronic title agreements will not only improve our efficiency but also provide a more convenient and secure experience for our users," she said.

Details regarding the use of the portal can be found at bmv.ohio.gov/titles-et.aspx or by contacting the Clerk of Courts office.

In the release, Mariotti-Daniels encouraged entities to take advantage of the service.
