Auburn area farm field fire spread by winds now under control

AUBURN, MI - A fire that started in a farm field in Williams Township and was spread by winds Sunday, Oct. 6, is now under control, according to Auburn-Williams Fire Department Chief John Martinski. "The fire started between 11 Mile and 9 Mile, between Salzburg and Hotchkiss. They seem to think a farmer was disking the field and his disk hit a rock and it caused a spark, that's how the fire started," said Martinski who was out of town but had spoken to fire officials at the scene. "But but with the winds...the fire went from field to field, ditch to ditch."
