Auburn seniors cast votes with help of Cayuga County Board of Elections

The Cayuga County Board of Elections gave local seniors an opportunity to cast ballots in the 2024 presidential election on Thursday, including two who had never voted before.

Residents of the Faatz-Crofut Home for the Elderly on Grant Avenue in Auburn cast absentee ballots during an "on-demand" voting opportunity that day, the assisted living facility said in a news release. Republican election commissioner John Camardo and Democratic election commissioner Keith Batman provided one-on-one assistance.

The commissioners then delivered the secured ballots to the board of elections at 157 Genesee St. They also registered two seniors to vote "for the first time ever in their young careers," the facility said.

The facility noted that voter registration must be complete by Oct. 26 and can be completed by mail, in person or online.

Similarly, absentee ballots must be requested by Oct. 26 and returned with a postmark no later than Nov. 5. They can be requested online or by phone, and will be mailed to the voter.
