Balkan Treat Box closes 'until further notice' in Webster Groves
WEBSTER GROVES — Balkan Treat Box, the nationally acclaimed restaurant at 8103 Big Bend Boulevard, has closed "until further notice."
Balkan Treat Box announced the at least temporary closure Tuesday on social media, citing only "unforeseen circumstances."
Owner Loryn Nalic did not return a message seeking comment. A phone call to the restaurant went unanswered.
"We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding," the announcement on Facebook and Instagram originally said. "Thank you for your continued support."
Since publication, the post on Instagram has been edited to delete the "We apologize..." sentence and to read, "Thank you for your continued support and we hope to see you soon!"
Loryn and Edo Nalic launched Balkan Treat Box as a food truck in 2016 and opened the brick-and-mortar restaurant in 2019.
Earlier this year, the Nalics opened the cafe Telva at the Ridge in Webster Groves .
Also in 2024, Loryn Nalic was a James Beard Award semifinalist for "Best Chef: Midwest."
