Barbara Grace Eberhart

Barbara Grace Eberhart, 76, of Columbus, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Columbus Community Hospital.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at 7:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home, with Rev. Paul Rempfer officiating. Visitation will take place from 5:00 PM until the service time, also at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the donor's or family's choice.
Barb was born on April 18, 1948, in Kearney, Nebraska, to Harvey and Irene (Carmann) Fiddelke. She was the fifth of six children, with one sister and four brothers. Barb grew up on a farm north of Riverdale, Nebraska, where she was actively involved in 4-H, showing sheep, dairy cattle, and beef. She graduated from Kearney High School in 1966.
On April 5, 1969, Barb married Jack Eberhart. The couple lived in Lincoln and Hastings for a short time before settling in Columbus in 1972. Barb worked as a para-professional at District 10 (Shell Creek) for 35 years, retiring in May 2015.
Barb had a deep love for her family, especially attending her children's and grandchildren's sporting events. She enjoyed spending time at the family cabin at Harlan and loved reading. She also cherished the friendships she formed with her colleagues at District 10.
Barb is survived by her husband, Jack Eberhart of Columbus; daughter Lori (Terry) Hopkins of Warrensburg, Missouri; grandchildren Grant Hopkins, Ryan (Austin) Wiesman, and Max Hopkins; great-granddaughter Courtlyn Hopkins; son Lance (Nikki) Eberhart of Columbus; grandchildren Saylor, Rylee, Adalyn, and Jase Eberhart; sister-in-law Kaye Fiddelke of Aberdeen, Washington; brother Norman Fiddelke of Iowa Falls, Iowa; sister Susanne (Guy) McCabe of Bremerton, Washington; brother Wes (Mary) Fiddelke of Kearney, Nebraska; brother Randy (Barb) Fiddelke of Manchester, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Roger Fiddelke; and sister-in-law Dorothy Fiddelke.
Barb will be remembered for her kind heart, dedication to her family, and the lasting impact she had on those who knew her.
