Dame Kristin Scott Thomas has revealed that she has secretly wed her partner of five years.

The Four Wedding and a Funeral actress married Bloomberg editor-in-chief John Micklethwait in September.

The fiercely private 64-year-old confirmed the nuptials had taken place in her husband's native Rutland, and even revealed what very British staple was on the menu.

She told the Ruthie's Table 4 podcast: 'We had coronation chicken. It was a treat, it was absolutely delicious.'

The podcast is hosted by River Cafe owner Lady Ruth Rogers who introduced her friend. She said: 'Sitting here today, she is basking in love and the joy of just a few weeks ago getting married to the editor and my friend John Mickelthwait.'

Dame Kristin, who plays MI5 spy Diana Taverner in Slow Horses, said she also got a very personal wedding gift from her sister.

She said: 'She got all the family recipes that my mother had collected, from my great grandmother in Scotland, to my other grandmothers all over the place, on both sides of the family. She scanned them and made them into a book for me.'

The star also gave a nod to the secret wedding of her co-star Jack Lowden to Little Women actress Saoirse Ronan in the summer.

Speaking about working on Slow Horses for four years, Dame Kristen said: 'So much life happens in those four years, people have died, people have got born, people got divorced, people have got married. This year alone we have had two weddings, we had Jack's and we had mine.'

'I've been longing for stability and no not tearing around the world and being able to sleep in the same bed for more than two weeks. Bliss. This is that sort of job. The same people behind the camera for four years.'

She was previously married to French obstetrician François Olivennes from 1987 until 2005. They share three children Hannah, Joseph, and George.

Husband number two is John Mickelthwait, 62, the editor-in-chief of financial news agency Bloomberg, who recently interviewed US presidential hopeful Donald Trump.

Dame Kirstin, who tries to keep her love life under wraps, previously shut down any conversation of John during an interview with the Financial Times.

Asked about their romance, Dame Kristin said: I'm not going to talk about him. I'm talking about me.'

In 2013, Dame Kristin gave a rare insight into her private life and joked she would probably be single for life because 'all the men will run for the hills' when they see it.

The actress told the Sunday Telegraph: 'It's incredibly difficult keeping relationships alive when you have a lifestyle like mine. I'm never more than a few weeks in one place.'

She also admitted that her personal life often suffers because of her career.

She said: 'If I've signed on to do something, then I have to do it properly. So I have to switch off the personal life. I can just about squeeze in a phone call at lunchtime, but anything else I just can't deal with.

'So it's a bit of an escapism thing, actually. Things complicated at home? Get a job! Go off somewhere else and pretend I'm someone else.'
