Beloved Morris Co. Deli Shutting Down After Nearly 60 Years

"We are committed to serving you with our best through the upcoming Rosh Hashanah holiday. As it stands, we anticipate our final day of business will be Sunday, October 13th," the business stated in a social media post.

Burrini's, which began as a butcher shop in Mendham in 1966, was founded by Jesse Burrini, who started his career in the meat industry at the age of 15 in a local butcher shop. After being drafted into the Army, Jesse continued to hone his skills and was ultimately inspired to establish his own business upon returning home, according to the company website.

More than two decades later, building on the success of the business, Peter and Jeannie Burrini—Jesse's son and daughter-in-law—relocated the shop to Randolph and expanded its offerings to include seafood, produce, baked goods, deli items, catering and more.

In 2010, Burrini's underwent another expansion, adding in a gourmet cheese department, an upgraded bakery, an olive bar and a hot bar, along with a wide variety of gluten-free items.

The announcement of the impending closure was made late last week.

"Throughout the years, we've shared in your joy during weddings, birthdays, and graduations, as well as offered support during life's more difficult moments. Your loyalty and love have been our greatest reward," the post reads.
