Best Thanksgiving prop bets: Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers

The Detroit Lions are hosting the Green Bay Packers in a Week 12 matchup of division rivals. The folks over at DraftKings Sportsbook have provided us with some pretty exciting play props and odds for the game.

Let’s set the Thanksgiving table by looking at some of our favorites.

The Detroit Lions are a running football team and they have two of the best, most consistent running backs in the NFL. Through the first eight games of the season, the Lions have incorporated both, but leaned on one primary back, averaging 131.4 rushing yards per game.

Over the last two games, with David Montgomery returning from injury, the Lions have platooned both he and Jahmyr Gibbs against two top-10 run defenses (Chicago Bears and Los Angeles Chargers) and averaged 157.5 rushing yards over the two games.

The Packers do not have a top-10 run defense. In fact, opponents average 134.7 yards on the ground per game this season, and in the past two weeks, they’ve given up 205 rushing yards to the 16th-ranked Steelers and 150 yards to the 18th-ranked Chargers.

The last time the Lions faced the Packers, in Week 4, Detroit rushed for 211 yards as a team with the running backs accounting for 160 of that total.

David Montgomery, OVER 78.5 rushing + receiving yards (-115) Over the past four games (save his injury game against the Bucs), Montgomery has reached 76 rushing yards in each and averages 105.5 yards on the ground. Additionally, over those same four games, he has also amassed an average of 15.5 receiving yards, helping boost this combination bet.

Bonus consideration: David Montgomery, Anytime touchdown (-155).

Montgomery has scored a rushing touchdown in every game this season (save his injury game), but the only game he has scored multiple was against the Packers in Week 4—when he had three touchdowns.

Jahmyr Gibbs, OVER 79.5 rushing + receiving yards (-125) A true threat on the ground and through the air over the last four weeks, Gibbs is averaging 83.25 rushing yards and 47.25 receiving yards per game. But what makes Gibbs really fun is his consistency, as he has combined for at least 95 rushing + receiving yards in each of those four games as well.

Bonus consideration: Jahmyr Gibbs, Anytime touchdown (-130).

Gibbs has scored five rushing touchdowns in the last four weeks, including at least one in each game.

Amon-Ra St. Brown, OVER 6.5 receptions (-145) The last time Amon-Ra. St. Brown faced the Packers, he was held to his lowest output of the season: five receptions for 56 yards. Since then, he has averaged 9.4 receptions and 113.4 receiving yards per game. You can bet St. Brown knows that the Packers had his number last time and will be looking to prove that was a fluke this time around.

Bonus consideration: Amon-Ra St. Brown, OVER 79.5 receiving yards (-120).

St. Brown has broke 80 receiving yards in seven of his last nine games, with the aforementioned Week 4 being the first, and last week being the second. St. Brown is a bounce-back candidate here.
