Biden’s farewell speech at the United Nations: Letters

G.Evans32 min ago

President Biden addressed the wars during his final UN speech on Tuesday, Sept. 24. Of course, Biden failed to mention his administration has been practicing strength through appeasement and our enemies are loving it. As a result, we have wars everywhere because we have also made our enemies wealthy again, Iran in particular. Joe hasn't ended any wars, he starts them. The last four years have been a nightmare and another four years with leftist Harris at the helm will truly mean the end of democracy in the U.S.A. Keep in mind, our enemies want nothing to do with another Trump presidency.

New York City mayor and his immigration policy

Re "New York Mayor Eric Adams indicted in federal probe" (Sept. 26):

New York City Mayor Eric Adams dared to criticize the Biden Harris/Obama immigration policy saying it was bankrupting New York City and "bam" just like that feds indicted Eric Adams and most of his senior administration members. What is he charged with? $100,000 worth of free travel not reported on his federal election forms. A minor traffic ticket. Message delivered to any other big city mayors or governors who want to complain about the flood of illegal immigrants: Don't mess with the tyrants in Washington, D.C.

Plastic bag ban

Re "Plastic bag ban signed by Newsom" (Sept. 23):

Could California legislators and our slick-haired governor be any more ignorant?

Newsom and his supermajority Dems have now wasted millions of dollars, countless hours bringing their constituents back to paper bags, which are by the way recyclable!

When will this state's voters realize those elected to represent us only care for themselves and pleasing those who support them monetarily?

Remember the adage "as California goes, so goes the nation" — it is playing out before our eyes, comrades.

The OC's inexcusably badly run animal shelter

Re "County managers have failed our animal shelter" (Sept. 25):

Thank you for the excellent concerning the failure of the Orange County Animal Shelter to protect the animals entrusted to their care. We've known it for years, and there have been failed attempts to rectify it. No excuse. Other shelters manage to do their job correctly. In 1993, Mission Viejo residents were unhappy with Orange County Animal Shelter and did not want to send our strays there, so our leaders built our own no-kill shelter, which has been very successful. We even have an animal emergency room connected to it, which I used when my pet had internal bleeding and all vet offices were closed. We are an animal-loving community and other communities are doing the same. Elect officials who support your city's own no-kill shelter and follow our lead.

The Costco apartments in South Los Angeles

Re "Costco with 800 apartment units breaks ground" (Sept. 23):

At first one would congratulate Costco for building 800 apartments over its newest store in South Los Angeles. Then reality sets in. Which neighborhoods have the worst public schools? Which neighborhoods have the highest crime rates? Which neighborhoods have the most single-parent families? The answer is not what you think. Those answers are neighborhoods that have the most apartment buildings.

The presidential contest we have here in 2024

Kamala Harris said on television on numerous occasions that the border is secure and she is opposed to building the wall. Now, as a candidate for president she promises to enforce immigration laws and secure the border.

She also wants the border wall installed. On the other hand ex-President Trump is incapable of acting presidential, attacking his opponent by name-calling and personal attack and cannot shut his big mouth.

Clearly it's a dead heat contest to who is the lesser evil, not who can do a better job as president.
