Blustery and dryer weather overtakes the area for Tuesday

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Some drizzle may remain into this evening, but should wrap up by the late evening. After midnight, skies will be clearing up. While clearing skies will help temperatures drop, strengthening winds out of the north northwest will counteract that drop in temperatures. After midnight, winds will blow 15 to 30 mph with gusts that might get over 40 mph in eastern areas. Lows tomorrow morning will range from the mid 20s northwest to the upper 30s southeast.

Leading up to the Thanksgiving holiday, there will be no hazardous travel weather. Both Tuesday and Wednesday will feature plenty of sunshine. Winds will continue to blow most of the day out of the north northwest. Those winds will die down during the evening. Highs on Tuesday will range from the mid 40s east to the lower 50s west. Lows Wednesday morning will dip down into the 20s across the area. Wednesday is now shaping up to be a pretty nice day and it will be our best day this week by far. Southwest winds will become breezy at 10 to 20 mph as temperatures rise to between the mid/upper 50s east and the upper 60s west. Unfortunately, a cold front will pass through Wednesday night into Thursday morning from the north. This will shift our winds back out of the north. After light winds in the evening, the winds will pick back up once the front passes through. Behind the front, it’ll be a mostly cloudy day on Thanksgiving, but the weather will still be fine for local travel. Winds will be breezy out of the northeast at 10 to 20 mph. high temperatures will be much colder, between the mid 30s north and the mid 40s south.

Winds will remain blustery and it will get colder across the area into Black Friday. Highs around the area will range from the mid/upper 20s west to the mid 30s east. Snow will begin moving into Northwest Nebraska late Thursday night and push southward into Friday morning. Much of this snow on Friday will likely remain over the western half of Nebraska (roughly west of Highway 183). These area areas that will likely pick up most of the accumulating snow with this system. With time, some of the snow will start to spread eastward Friday night and possibly even linger into Saturday. As it does so, it will continue to lighten up. This is not looking like a major winter weather evening, but still could have some impacts to travel. Impacts will likely be greater the farther west you go. Temperatures will likely remain cold again on Saturday, but may start to recover some by Sunday into early next week.
