Bodies of missing adult, 4-year-old found at Texas state park

The search for a missing adult and minor at Lake Corpus Christi State Park in Mathis, Texas, is over after both bodies have been recovered.

A public information officer with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department confirmed to LoneStarLive.com that search crews recovered the body of the missing 29-year-old male on Monday, Nov. 4. The body of the missing 4-year-old was recovered on Tuesday, Nov. 5. Both were found deceased.

  • The search crews who found the missing adult and minor comprised the Texas State Park Police, the San Patricio County Sheriff's Office, Sandia Fire Rescue, Mathis Fire Department and Texas Game Wardens.

    According to the TPWD public information officer, Texas State Park Police and the Texas Game Wardens responded to an incident at Lake Corpus Christi State Park on Sunday, Nov. 3, after five swimmers became distressed.

    Three swimmers were immediately removed from the water and taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention. State park staff and local first responders then started their search for the other two missing swimmers. The search continued Monday, Nov. 4, with added help from the San Patricio County Sheriff's Office, Sandia Fire Rescue and the Mathis Fire Department.

    Kris 6 News, the NBC affiliate in Corpus Christi, Texas, reported the group was swimming near Catfish Cove on Sunday when they became distressed.

    San Patricio County Sheriff Oscar Rivera told the news outlet the child's body washed ashore on Tuesday near the same area where the 29-year-old's body was found the day prior.

    Lake Corpus Christi State Park is located roughly 42 miles northwest of the coastal city of Corpus Christi, Texas.
