Boyfriend charged with attempted murder, assaulting officer

IUKA – An altercation between a man and a woman in late October escalated to gunfire and the boyfriend facing at least four felony charges, including attended murder and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.

Tishomingo County deputy sheriffs were dispatched to County Road 217 in the Burnsville area on Oct. 30 for a disturbance. The responding officers found a female with a gunshot wound. She said her boyfriend shot her. The suspect was found outside his residence and taken into custody.

Brent Edward Amerson, 57, has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated domestic violence, kidnapping, and aggravated assault on an officer.

Following his initial appearance, bond was set at 4500,000. He remains incarcerated at the Tishomingo County Jail.

An arrest report gives more details about what occurred before a man was shot to death Wednesday in the 3200 block of West Edgewood Avenue. Investigators observed surveillance video that showed the victim driving an orange Chevrolet Camaro with orange rims at the intersection of Edgewood Avenue and New Kings Road, according to the JSO arrest report for Lavertis Reed, 20, who was charged with murder in the shooting. A Russian court sentenced a Moscow paediatrician to 5-1/2 years in a penal colony on Tuesday, Russian media said, after the mother of one of her patients publicly denounced her over comments about Russian soldiers in Ukraine.
