Braves' Hatzenbuhler wins singles title
The Mandan Braves brought home another trophy from their successful trip to Minot for the West Region tennis tournament.
After winning the region team title on Thursday, the Braves' Karter Hatzenbuhler captured the region singles title on Saturday, defeating Brave teammate Jared Chriten 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 in the final.
Ryan Bitz made it a 1-2-3 Mandan finish in singles, beating Legcy's Connor Svihovec 6-3, 6-0 in the third-place match.
The Mandan doubles teams of Deklan Wollschlager and Donovan Birdine and Lucas DeRosier and Donovan Birdine finished seventh and eight, respectively.
Minot's Aidan Diehl and Grayson Schaeffer beat Legacy's Caleb Johnson and Cooper Miller 6-4, 6-2 in the doubles final.
Charlie Holzer and Carter Anderson of Century finished third in doubles.
The state tournament is next weekend in Grand Forks.
