"It's horrifying to be left, I just wish people would be more accountable," Papa said.

The 49-year-old had just dropped his son off and was trying to cross New Lots Avenue and Watkins Street in Brownsville when he was hit.

It happened on October 7th, around 9:45 p.m.

Papa said he blacked out after being hit and can't remember much about what happened but he does know a Good Samaritan helped him and called 911.

"My first thoughts went to them they really saved me I was in a pool of blood and my bone was out," Papa said.

Last quarter the city responded to 19 hit-and-runs with victims with critical injuries compared to 13 for the same quarter last year.

Papa was left with a broken leg, cuts, and bruises, while he said he knew it could have been worse he hoped the driver would come forward.

Papa said it took a few days to get a police report done. Sources tell PIX11 News there is an active investigation in the 73rd PCT.
