Buckland Hills Mall Officially On The Auction Block A north central Connecticut shopping destination is for sale.MANCHESTER, CT — The Shoppes at Buckland Hills mall in Manchester is officially on the auction block.
The three decade-old, two-level shopping venue at 194 Buckland Hills Drive is being listed by broker JLL . The sale comes about a month after the Sears building at the mall went up for auction separately.
The Shoppes at Buckland Hills measures 1.3 million square feet and sits on 114.70 acres, 60.8 of which are "owned," according to the listing.
Stores include the 155,074-square-foot Macy's location; JCPenney, which measures 123,807 square feet; and Macy's Men's & Home at 118,420 square feet.
A vacant "anchor box"measuring 80,000 square feet is also at the mall. In 2011, Dick's Sporting goods moved across the Buckland Hills retail district to the Plaza at Burr Corners and, in July of this year, Bob's Stores vacated the same spot.
The property also features "a number of owned, separately parceled out-parcels, including the Fairfield Inn & Suites, Dave & Busters, Longhorn Steakhouse, Red Robin and Market Grill," according to the listing.
The mall was constructed in 1990 and it took the place of the Red Rock golf course, a hilly, public layout that, "you had to be a billy goat to play," one veteran golfer said this week. The remnants of the course are the red rock cliffs that face Buckland Street.
According to the Manchester Assessor's Office database, the last transaction involving the mall was a $210.15 million sale to Cam HGI Pavilions Lt. in December 2022.
The JLL listing states that the property is a "top 10 most-visited" shopping destination in the state. It is being marketed toward "select investors registered via a confidentiality agreement," according to the listing.
The Property is being offered on an "as-is" basis and the marketing process will be governed by "a date-certain bid process."
No asking price is posted.
