Burn bans building across the Brazos Valley

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - After a prolonged period of hot and dry conditions across the Brazos Valley, officials have enacted burn bans for several counties.

Burn bans are in effect for the following counites:

Outdoor burning of any kind is prohibited for these counties until further notice.

While not technically in drought, the latest drought monitor shows signs of vegetative stress and abnormally dry conditions building across southeast Texas. This has created a conducive environment for wildfires, where even the smallest spark can spread very quickly. For that reason, even those not under burn bans should be very cautious with any outdoor activities involving a spark or flame.
