The Philadelphia Phillies fell to the New York Mets on Thursday. The loss dropped Philadelphia to 91-62 on the season, tied with the Los Angeles Dodgers for the best record in MLB.

With a six-game lead over New York in the National League East, Philadelphia is poised to clinch another division title. While their playoff spot is not in jeopardy, the Phillies do have a major question to answer about their postseason pitching.

Former All-Star starting pitcher Taijuan Walker went just 3.1 innings in Thursday's loss, surrendering six hits and eight earned runs. Now 3-7 on the season with a 6.91 ERA, Walker has been a shell of his former self.

After another rough outing for Walker, Phillies fans are calling for the starting pitcher's release from the club.

Via "If you made a go fund me for Taijuan walkers contract, we would all pay for it if it meant he gets dfa'd tomorrow"

Walker has a 9.72 ERA in his last seven outings which has only intensified the calls for his release.

Via "Next tweet should be We have DFA Walker for assignment and recalled Tyler Phillips from triple A"

Walker is in the second season if his four-year, $72M contract which fans have offered to pay for themselves.

Via "If everyone pitches in a few dollars we can all just pay off Tai's contract"

Philadelphia has a decision to make with Walker as the postseason approaches. While releasing him at this point in the season may not be the move, leaving Walker off the postseason roster could be in play for the Phillies.

Walker is in his 12th MLB season and second with the Phillies.
