Carlisle bans outdoor burning through Dec. 1

T.Williams20 min ago

All outdoor burning is prohibited in Carlisle through Dec. 1, borough officials announced Saturday.

The 30-day burn ban also prevents recreational fires.

"The drought and dry conditions increasing the likelihood in brush fires make it necessary to institute an outdoor burning ban to protect our residents, property and our environment," Mayor Sean Shultz said.

Carlisle Borough Fire Chief and Emergency Management Coordinator Randy O'Donnell deemed the ban necessary.

The outdoor burn ban will remain in effect through next month unless Shultz rescinded or amends it earlier.

Carlisle's ban follows after a number of other similar decisions in other municipalities, including South Middleton and Monroe townships.
