Carmelo Anthony’s Secret Gift for Kiyan Remains Under Wraps as Father’s Dilemma Persists

D.Nguyen7 hr ago
Carmelo Anthony is contemplating what would be the perfect gift for his son. The moment Kiyan joins the league is eagerly awaited by both of his parents. The Long Island Lutheran guard is currently the No. 1 player in New York for the NCAA class of 2025. While the NBA icon dad hopes for his son's future, he is also looking forward to giving Kiyan something unique, meaningful, and precious. When asked by a journalist during his appearance at the House of Craft, Melo shared his thoughts.

The secret gift will likely be a watch. Melo hopes to buy a unique timepiece that will stay with his son forever. He wants Kiyan to preserve the gift and only take it out when necessary. However, he is still in a dilemma on which watch to buy for his son.

"It would be something that he can like really keep and cherish and like have value to it. I mean and hopefully God's willing he will be able to go out there and buy his own watches but the watch that I'm going to get him may not be able to wear this every single day," Melo said.

He further explained what would be different about his gift than the ones he can purchase for himself. "Because I want you (Kiyan) to keep that in the safe and only bring that out if you have to but yeah it'll be something very thoughtful something that's very curated in a sense of you know looking at it at from a big picture and what this time piece really means."

Obviously, Melo hopes that his son, who has yet to announce his college commitment, will eventually be able to buy whatever he wants on his own. But Kiyan already has an impressive portfolio, with deals from brands like PSD Underwear, Nerf, and more. He also launched his own apparel brand, One Way Clothing, in partnership with his friend Jadyn in 2023.

Kiyan has built an impressive business at just 17 years old. But as Melo said, a father's gift for his son will always mean more. The real question is whether he will be able to outdo Kiyan's mother.

La La Anthony gave the best gift to 11-year-old Kiyan For his 11th birthday, Kiyan wanted a piece of his father's collegiate and basketball career. After Oak Hill Academy, Melo went on to play for Syracuse, leading the team to an NCAA championship. The NBA icon also played in the 2002 McDonald's All-American Game. Speaking of his 19-year NBA career, Anthony became everything each team needed him to be. A scoring star, he retired as the ninth-leading scorer in NBA history, with 28,289 career points.

Hence, Kiyan wanted a piece of each of these phenomenal years from Melo's life for his birthday. And his mother came to the rescue, gifting him Melo's basketball jerseys from every year of his basketball career.

"This is all he wanted for his birthday today every single one of his dad's basketball jerseys from High school, College, Olympics, and the NBA (missing Towson Catholic..that's a hard one to find, McDonalds All American (even harder), & All Star) HAPPY BIRTHDAY KIYAN!!!!" La La wrote on her IG .

Can we assume that La La is already planning what to get her son when he eventually enters the NBA? Perhaps. After all, the mother knows her son better than anyone. The New York Knicks legend, who once gifted 12 Rolex watches to his teammates, will have to think bigger if he wants to outdo his ex-wife.

But then again, both gifts will mean equally to Kiyan, who has narrowed his college choices down to Syracuse, USC, and Auburn. Next, he will reveal his decision in the latest episode of 7 PM in Brooklyn soon enough.
