Carol Gaye (Camitsch) Schara
March 14, 1941 - October 11, 2024
Our beloved mother, Mrs. Carol Gaye (Camitsch) Schara passed away on October 11, 2024, in Marietta, GA. Carol was born on March 14, 1941, to Ruth and Albert Camitsch in Butte, Montana.
After high school, Carol worked at the Mountain Bell Telephone Company, a job she enjoyed immensely and excelled. In 1959 Carol met the love of her life, Joseph E. Schara, Sr., and they were married at St. Joseph's Church on May 21, 1961. Their marriage lasted 30 years until Joe's untimely death in 1991.
Carol was dedicated to her family. She was a devoted wife and mother to her five children. She was involved in Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, PTA and supportive in the many activities that her children participated. She was a wonderful host, and everyone looked forward to her excellent cooking and baking, especially during the holidays. The home that Carol created for her family was an inviting one where everyone was welcome and would always leave with something to "take home for later".
While raising her children, Carol also worked in the family businesses, that started with building their first home and then expanding into a cabinet and furniture manufacturing plant. Carol had a strong work ethic, a keen sense for business and excelled at sales.
After her children were raised, Carol enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She also had the opportunity to travel to many destinations nationally and internationally and always returned with many stories and recipes that she would recreate from her travels. Carol's outgoing personality, quick-witted humor, beautiful blue eyes and loving smile will be greatly missed by all.
Carol is survived by her five children: Rhonda Richie, Anchorage, AK, Brenda Watkins (Tony) Idaho Falls, ID, Dr. Joseph E. Schara, Jr., St. Paul, MN, Andria Yildirim (Mehmet) Atlanta, GA and Nicole Locati (Steve) Bozeman, MT. She is survived by 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She is also survived by her sister, Judy Oehrle, of Houston, TX.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. Schara, Sr.; her parents; her brother, Daryl Camitsch; her niece, Denae Oehrle; and her life-long friend, Rosemary Mattioli.
Funeral Services will be celebrated on Monday, October 21, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in the Duggan Dolan Mortuary Chapel. Rite of Committal will follow in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
