Carson City Big Lots to remain open following closure announcement
Those disappointed that Big Lots in Carson City would be closing have some good news heading into the holiday shopping season. Big Lots Inc. announced the store "previously scheduled for closure" will remain open.
"The decision is part of the company's ongoing restructuring process aimed at enhancing customer experience and refining its market presence," said a Nov. 7 press release from the Ohio-based company.
"We're thrilled that our Big Lots store in Carson City will remain open and continue serving this community," said Big Lots Chief Stores Officer Kristen Cox. "Thanks to the incredible support from our associates, business partners, and local shoppers, we look forward to bringing even more value and convenience to our customers for years to come."
A spokesperson for the store, which is located at 4215 S. Carson Street, confirmed the Dec. 22 closure date had been cancelled.

The store opened in the Southgate Shopping Center in 2010 offering "closeout deals" on nonperishable food, toys, seasonal décor, electronics and furniture, according to the Appeal's archives.
In September, Big Lots Inc. voluntarily entered Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization, citing the COVID-19 pandemic and high inflation as contributing factors.
