The driver of the truck continued, reaching speeds of over 70 miles per hour, according to Anders. During the fleeing, the truck struck a school bus at the intersection of 16th Street and Hancock Ave. The driver of the bus was injured, and there were no others inside the bus.
The truck finally came to a stop in a field near 28th Street and the driver, identified as Joshua Ewing, 33, of Strasburg, Missouri fled on foot. He was taken into custody without incident. Upon searching the truck, Anders said that deputies found a loaded 9mm handgun, over $1,000, half an ounce of a substance later revealed as methamphetamine and fentanyl, paraphernalia, scales and Xanax. It was also found that the truck was stolen.
Anders claims that Joshua Ewing is being charged with aggravated fleeing a stop causing physical injury, armed criminal action, second-degree drug trafficking, delivery of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm, and first and second-degree tampering.
Additionally, Ealey is being charged with a probation violation with a bond of $5,000 case or surety, second-degree trafficking, delivery of a controlled substance and second-degree tampering.
The Pettis County Prosecutor's Office filed all charges for both defendants. No bond was set for Ewing and Ealey's bond was set at $150,000 in addition to the existing $5,000 bond.
