CDOT: “Be prepared for a statewide snowstorm of the season”

(COLORADO) — The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) warned drivers beginning Tuesday, Nov. 5 through Friday, Nov. 8 to, "Be prepared for a statewide snowstorm of the season," and to prepare for winter driving conditions, particularly south of Denver and on I-70 through the high country.

CDOT said significant snow is expected to impact southern Colorado south of Pueblo, including several mountain passes, along with the Palmer Divide, and I-25 from south of Denver to Monument Hill and down to New Mexico.

While crews will be out in full force plowing roads, highways, and interstates, CDOT warned that drivers should be prepared for the winter driving conditions and to give themselves extra time for their commutes.

"The "must carry" provision for truckers to carry chains on their vehicles from September through May was expanded this year to include additional highways west of I-25," wrote CDOT. "It is imperative that big rig drivers chain-up when traction laws are implemented."
